Waterski & Wakeboard Instructor
The UKCC Waterski & Wakeboard Coaching Certificate is for volunteers that coach regularly at their club, and anyone who will be working as a paid coach at a ski school or holiday company, such as Neilson Active Holidays.
The qualification meets the standard for coaching unaccompanied for any level, from beginner to advanced.
On successful completion of the qualification, candidates will be certified to coach unassisted anywhere in the UK and abroad.
Waterski & Wakeboard Instructor Level 1
The Level 1 coaching award is recommended for skiers and wakeboards who would like to volunteer at their club.
It is predominantly teaching at a beginners level, aimed at those who are new to coaching and would like to gain experience and progress in ability.

Before enrolment:

Hold a BWSW membership

Hold a BWSW Ski Boat Driver Level 2 (SBD2), and have at least 10 hours experience driving water skiers/wakeboarders.

Be aged 16 years or over (note, to be a licensed coach you must be 17).

Be a competent beginner at mono-skiing and wakeboarding (note, those who are unable to perform these will need to demonstrate experience in delivering these skills).

Have an understanding of the 'Cutting Edge Bronze' programme for water skiing and wakeboarding.
Waterski & Wakeboard Instructor Level 2
The UKCC Level 2 covers areas based around being a safe, fun, and effective coach, including safety practices, delivery skills, customer service, risk assessment, and advanced boat driving.
Candidates will need to be competent performing deep water starts on 1 ski, mono skiing crossing the wakes, and wakeboarding up to the standard of performing tricks including Ollies, Backside 180's, Wake Jumps, and Surface 360's.
Candidates will drive, ski/wakeboard, and coach for other candidates on the course.

Hold a BWSW Ski Boat Driver Level 2 (SBD2), and have at least 10 hours experience driving water skiers/wakeboarders.

Hold a BWSW Level 1 coaching qualification (candidates can book both courses at the same time for a 7 day course).

Be aged 16 years or over (note, to be a licensed coach you must be 17).

Be an intermediate level at mono-skiing and wakeboarding (note, those who are unable to perform these will need to demonstrate experience in delivering these skills).

Have an understanding of the 'Cutting Edge Bronze, Silver, and Gold' programmes for water skiing and wakeboarding.
Licensed Coach
The BWSW Coach Licence is issued by BWSW to qualified coaches/ instructors who meet requirements relating to safety and training, and uphold the BWSW codes and practices. It is for employers, parents, volunteers and clubs to identify the coaches who have been checked and appropriately trained to the level and environment they will be working within.
Once candidates have completed the licensing process, a new membership card will be sent with the qualifications they are licensed for listed on the card.
The license will last for three seasons. During this time it will be the holders responsibility to keep their BWSW membership, first aid and enhanced disclosure check active.
